Amethyst stalactites are a type of mineral formation found in caves and caverns. They are formed by the slow deposition of minerals, primarily quartz, over thousands of years.
Stalactites are formed when water carrying dissolved minerals drips from the ceiling of a cave. As the water evaporates, the minerals are left behind and begin to accumulate, forming a small mineral deposit. Over time, these deposits grow into long, cone-shaped formations that hang from the ceiling of the cave.
Amethyst stalactites are unique because they are formed from amethyst, a purple variety of quartz. The purple color comes from the presence of iron and manganese in the mineral deposits. As the stalactite grows, the color intensifies and can range from pale lilac to a deep, rich purple. Amethyst stalactites are highly valued by collectors and can be quite expensive. All of our crystals are ethically sourced from around the world.
